Wireless Security Systems - The True Cost

Wireless Security Systems - The True Cost

Security System

Wireless Vs Hardwire

This is an ever-growing debate within the security alarm industry; both sides have their opinions as I have mine. Since starting KeepSafe Systems, I have never installed a wireless security system. There are several reasons starting from appearance, reliability and sustainability to never having the need to and always finding a way to get a wire where it is needed.

Appearance is a large concern of many homeowners. Although transmitters have gotten smaller over the years, wireless security systems involve the installation of boxy transmitters around your doors and windows. Wireless security system supporters will often tell horror stories of holes drilled throughout your home or wires stapled all over your walls. Yes, I have seen these types of installations, for the most part, they are done by inexperienced or lazy technicians who prefer wireless security systems. Although some wire runs can be difficult and very occasionally require surface runs, there is no excuse for sloppy workmanship. Pick your security alarm installer very carefully; often the small business owner will take more care in ensuring the quality of the installation.

When it comes to the reliability of security systems, hardwire will always be the more reliable of the two. Wireless security alarm supporters of course will say "modern wireless security systems are supervised", basically this is passing over the pitfalls of the technology and adding a feature to tell you when the technology fails. This inevitably runs into expensive and time wasting service calls, equipment replacement and potential false alarms. One need only look at the cordless phone to see the pitfalls of the wireless technology. Sure they are great when you first purchase them, however, age and interference take their toll and sooner or later you have a paperweight with buttons and an LCD screen.

Sustainability is potentially the most expensive reason for choosing hardwire security systems over wireless. I can't even begin to count the changes in wireless security technology and frequencies used since getting into the business back in the late 80's early 90's. Even the wireless security system supporters will tell you that technology is always changing (Except they use the word "advancing"... it sounds better in advertising). So how do wireless security system "advancements" affect the owner of a wireless security system? Easy, say for example you were the unfortunate victim of a wireless security system sales person in 1995. Chances are if one of your motion detectors fails you will be hard-pressed to find a replacement. Simply put, you will now have to purchase an entirely new security system (Control panel, detectors, keypad etc) which depending on the size of your security alarm system will cost you as much and possibly more than if you would have installed a hardwired system to begin with. So in all fairness, I feel I should tell you what is in store for you if a hardwired detector fails. Simple, you replace the detector. Hardwire detectors are simple switches and most hardwire security system detectors are interchangeable regardless of the manufacturer.

Another factor within the realm of sustainability is the cost of upgrading. Back to the system installed in 1995. Yes there have been significant changes in security alarm technology since then. In the hardwire security system world, these changes are mostly in the area of convenience, aesthetics and features. If all your detectors are in working order, upgrading a hardwire security system simply involves changing the control panel and keypad(s). This is generally a fairly easy process and is substantially less expensive than upgrading a complete wireless system.

One last consideration in choosing hardwire security systems over their wireless counterpart is the selection of detectors. Although you can retrofit almost any hardwire detector to a wireless system, there are far more choices of detector types in hardwire. Take for example Carbon monoxide, water, natural gas, propane, vibration... and the list goes on. Wireless security systems are generally designed around the average security need of the consumer. Since detectors are not interchangeable across manufacturer lines, it would be financially unfeasible for a wireless security system manufacturer to create wireless detectors for every conceivable need. Even in the spectrum of standard detectors, there are some manufacturers who have extremely reliable detectors that only work on hardwire systems. Choosing a wireless security system can often result in you having a detector less suited for your particular application. Once again the average security need factor comes into play.

Inevitably, the choice of whether to have a wireless or hardwire security system installed is entirely up to you. In fact, your only choice may be wireless. Hopefully I have given you some information to help you along with your decision. Easy Security Systems With Wireless Security Cameras

Easy Security Systems With Wireless Security Cameras

Security System

Homeowners and small business owners have a great need for effective security systems, but often do not have a large amount of expendable income for an overly complicated system. Wireless security systems and wireless IP cameras are the perfect solution to this problem.

Wireless IP cameras work by transmitting video data through the same network as a personal computer. This makes installing a wireless security system extremely straightforward, just mount the camera and set up a personal computer to receive the signal.

Pros And Cons Of Wireless Security Systems

Wireless security systems offer flexibility, ease of installation, and remote access options with wireless IP cameras. Every element in a wireless system performs its security function as normal (like motion sensing or detecting an open window), but transmits a signal instead of relying on wiring. This means that the security devices are not installed in static locations, they can be arranged for maximum effect and new elements can be easily added.

Overall, installation is very simple; no demolition or wiring is required. With an internet enabled system, any computer with an internet connection becomes a remote monitoring station. The system and video feed can be seen inside the building, from across town, or across the country.

However, wireless systems do have one serious flaw. All of the elements work off of battery power. It is imperative to check the devices on a set schedule, such as on the first of every month, and replace batteries as needed. With a password, a wireless IP camera will be secure from tampering.

Wireless Security System Applications

Wireless systems use their pros to work the best in certain applications. In general, since no wires have to be run and no construction is necessary, these systems are best suited for rented homes or offices. Renters can avoid having to negotiate with their landlord to install wiring in the walls and the entire system is portable if the owner moves to a new property.

For example, if you live in a rented apartment, the best system would most likely be either an all-in-one unit or an internet enabled system. These units are easy to install without any demolition. They are rather simple since an apartment will have fewer areas to monitor. A single wireless IP camera could cover the exterior of the apartment.

Wireless systems also work in cases where you own your property. For example, condos are also ideal for wireless IP cameras just like an apartment. A hybrid system works well for a townhouse. The second floor of a townhouse can be all wireless with a wireless IP camera mounted on the roof that all connects to the wired system on the ground floor. For buildings that are not attached to the main home, such as a bungalow, guest house, or even a barn or large shed, wireless systems offer the least complicated system setup. Instead of having to run wiring and power cables across your property, wireless transmission would be the ideal installation.

Overall, wireless security systems and cameras provide a flexible, easy to use security option for homes and businesses alike.

Wireless Home Security System - Is it the Best Home Alarm System?

Wireless Home Security System - Is it the Best Home Alarm System?

Security System

There are two major types of home burglar alarm system. The first is the traditional hard wired home alarm which has wire connections to all sensors and keypads. The second type is the wireless home security system which uses wireless transmission of data from sensors to the alarm. There is much discussion as to which of these is the best home alarm system. Each has its own proponents but we feel that the latest wireless systems have many advantages and we believe this to be the best choice for most homeowners and offices.

The hard wired traditional home alarm requires all the sensors from doors and windows to be connected to the central control panel by cables. The installation of a hard wired system necessitates cutting into walls and removal of skirting and floor boards in order to run the cables. This obviously entails a lot of work and repairs to walls after the installation. The net result is high cost and much disturbance of the home environment. In contrast to this a wireless home security system can be installed in an hour or two of easy work even by an amateur, do it yourself, installer.

There is really little need to hire a professional installer for this work because all it entails is setting up the sensors where you want them, and mounting the central receiver in a suitable spot. You then need to test all the sensor signals, to make sure they are working, and the job is essentially done. If you feel better about having a professional do the work of course then that is the way you should go. You will have peace of mind knowing that the job has been done properly and because of the ease of installation, of a wireless home security system, the actual installation costs should be quite reasonable.

Performance of either the hard wired home alarm system or the wireless security system is equal in all respects. There is however an advantage to the wireless alarm system in that it is battery powered. This means that an intruder cannot put it out of action by cutting wires. Should the phone line be cut the wireless home security system can respond by cellphone technology to the authorities. Cutting the phone line outside or inside the house will not deactivate the system.

Taking all these things into consideration it is fairly obvious that a wireless home security alarm system has many advantages over a hard wired system.

Wireless Security Systems Vs Hard-Wired Security Systems

Wireless Security Systems Vs Hard-Wired Security Systems

Security System

Alarm systems: I began doing a little research on them recently, because I was curious about how different types of alarm systems work. There's some debate going on about which is better: a hard-wired alarm system, or a wireless alarm system.

Let me share what I found.

My family and I had a hard-wired home alarm system in our old house, which we built ourselves. We had the wires for the system installed as the walls were still going up, which was great because everything was concealed and we never had to worry about drilling holes in our walls. But when we moved to the new home we're in now and began looking for a new security system, we realized how difficult it would be to install a hard-wired security system into an already-built home. My wife wasn't happy with the idea of a bunch of ugly wires in the house, and we'd have to drill holes into our newly-painted walls.

So we started doing some research on wireless security systems. These wireless home alarm systems use the latest technology and are much more up-to-date than old hard-wired security systems. We had heard some people claim that because wireless alarm systems operate on radio frequencies, they set off false alarms more often -- but it turns out that if you have a security professional install your home system, that risk is almost completely eliminated. Most of the false alarm stories come up in cases where homeowners tried to install their own wireless alarm systems. We thought: Why install our own home security system and risk messing it up? This is going in to protect our family and give us peace of mind, after all!

So we called our local authorized dealer, and had them come take a look at our home. They told us exactly what type of alarm system equipment we needed, and also showed us the best places to install home security sensors. Our technician told us things we would never have thought about! Here's an example: had I been installing my own system, I would have put the sensors at the bottom of all the doors, where I'd think they would catch any intruders. However, our technician pointed out that home security sensors in low points can be activated just as easily by a dog, a cat, or even a kid who gets out of bed at night.

The advice and help our home security specialist gave us was definitely worth the call. He installed our system for us for only .00, and because we called our local authorized dealer, we got the whole security system for free!

So to sum up: if we had installed a hard-wired home security system, we would have had to drill holes, run wires, and deal with a lot of unnecessary maintenance. Our new wireless security system is easy to maintain and simple to use, and it was installed for free. For us, a wireless security system was definitely the best choice.

Home Surveillance Camera Systems - Home Security Installation Simplified

Home Surveillance Camera Systems - Home Security Installation Simplified

Security System

Home security camera systems run the gamut from bulky complicated intricately wired systems to hand held remote activated wireless camera systems. There are a few considerations one has to bear in mind when selecting a home surveillance system. Just to name a few, things like the surface to area ratio of the room or rooms being monitored. Room temperature has to be taken into account: it is paramount to keep your rooms cool especially when dealing with these larger more sophisticated models. Lighting plays a critical role in picture clarity and resolution; make sure the area you have designated to the monitor has an adequate confluence of light.

Have a backup plan; Always. For areas rife with burglaries and break-ins, one must devise a backup plan for the eventuality of a break in. Considerations range from having a fully redundant power supply that is not accessible to a burglar; be it hooked up to a telephone line or a live web feed. Benefits of a fully redundant power supply and recording cache are, constant monitoring of one's home and the peace of mind derived from knowing that one has all their bases covered. In addition to a fully redundant set up, make sure that your home security system offers monitoring alerts that notify law enforcement when alarms are triggered by trespassers and would be burglars.

Monitor your children, keep an eye on your most prized possessions; multitask by being able to keep an eye on more than one thing at a time, i.e. monitor your stove in the kitchen while you work on your stock portfolio in the home office, while switching from a split screen view of the kids playing in the yard. You can do this and much better with new and innovative home security camera systems.

Go to your local department store and browse the home improvement sections when looking for home security equipment. Also you can browse the internet to find great deals. You will always find better deals online because there are more products to select from online and you have companies bidding for your business. Also as a tip, remember to shop off brand products to garner additional discounts without too much of a risk in product efficacy. And lastly, remember that whenever you run into problems, be it technical or otherwise, the best route to go is with professional home security system installation.

DIY Wireless Home Security Systems

Security System

The time when you could leave your house, give no assurance that the door and stress, if someone steals something else and there is no more. Now it is necessary to protect the door, even if you want to go right around the corner to buy milk or cigarettes.

Today it is possible that you're actually in your garden without the backup of your door, because it is always a threat from someone who through the same door and steals your valuables.

There are several advantagesDo-it-yourself wireless security systems. First, they are not expensive, because you can only buy a simple system and, subsequently, a motion detector to the other doors and windows. They are also very easy to install and if you switch to another step, you will be able to bring down the entire system with you.

Another great advantage is that they use much less energy than, for example, external projectors.

In addition to protection against theft, a thiefAlarm system can inform others when a public health emergency, or need help. There is an emergency button on the remote control device that sparks alarm for help.

There are many types of innovative security systems easy to install wireless alarm are available. One of the most modern monitors have a single 16-port, windows and sensors for motion detection through a control center. When a sensor detects an intrusion in the security alarm goes off andpoints out that door or window.

The way in which the operation of these systems is that there is a connection between each remote sensor and control the main radio. Therefore, the following happens: someone is able to travel and then a sensor that signals the main unit. Subsequently, the alarm will sound and the lights will automatically be started. This usually discourages the thief.

As a way to facilitate the process, make sure you invest in a home under the supervisionSystem Security. The advantage of this system is that if each sensor is functional and controlled the operation of the signals with a flashing light on the main unit. He lets you know what, if any weak battery sensor has to be replaced.

There are also self-contained battery-powered motion sensors detect. A very loud siren is built into them. You are in a position in these areas with objects of value or at the foot of the stairs or hall that attach to your bedroom.

Anothera sort of motion detection alarm is that the outside lights when someone enters your yard switch. To install, simply plug it into an outdoor light. It 'can also activate a signal to the main component of the interior lighting.

Another low-cost device is a locking bar with a battery-powered alarm. You can install it on a sliding window or door above the window. If it is moved, an alarm will go away.

Wireless Home Security Systems

Security System

Wireless home security systems use state-of-the-art technology to make a house or a safe place and business from every angle.

Protecting your home is monitored by an alarm system for fear of an intrusion on private property effectively. One of the main advantages of a wireless home security system is that it requires the tedious job of destroying walls for the installation of the system. Sometimes, when you nail one of these systems into the wall, there isPossibility, the cracks and fall of the wall paint. This would result in additional costs for the repair of the walls. Door and window contacts and motion detectors that operate at frequencies of the main factors in the operation of a wireless security system.

Doors and window sensors are the most common complement to all the security arrangements, because it is of paramount importance to ensure open and close everything. Intruders use such a good entry and exit for burglary. DoorsWindow and give you easy access to thieves, so you should take precautions for their safety. Doors and windows are used as entry points for burglars when you set a contact to be prevented from home, on the entrance doors. The contacts should be well on Windows, lying on the ground and can easily be placed accessible by intruders.

Many people prefer glass window, how to improve the attractiveness of a room. But windows are very fragile and can be divided for the extractionEntry into a house. Can minimize the use of glass break detectors, the element of danger. Glass break detectors work for the sound frequency, which arises when the glass shattered on impact, or it is not. A glass break detectors can operate efficiently over a wide area and is ideally sufficient for multiple windows, like censorship to ensure the safety of the entire room.
